NutritionTrak (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (NutritionTrak).
Information We Collect
Account Information
- No account is required to use the app.
- If you later choose to sign in (optional), we may associate your data with your account.
Usage Data
The app may store the following data locally on your device:
- Your meal plans
- Food items you've added
- Diet preferences
- Dietary restrictions
- Favorite restaurants
- Restaurant ratings and feedback you provide
Device Identifier (for sync)
To support optional syncing of favorites and reviews, the app generates a random device identifier (deviceId). This helps keep your favorites/reviews consistent across app sessions. It is not your device hardware identifier and does not directly identify you.
Camera / Photos (optional)
If you use camera features (e.g., AI analysis or OCR), you can take a photo of a meal or packaged-food label. The photo is used to extract information such as ingredients and nutrition details.
Third-Party Services
We may use the following third-party services:
- USDA Food Database API for nutritional information
- OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim / Overpass) for restaurant search (if enabled)
- Flutter framework services for crash reporting
How We Use Your Information
- To provide nutrition tracking, diet planning, and recommendations.
- To analyze images you submit (if you use AI analysis/OCR features).
- To store and sync your restaurant favorites and reviews (if sync is enabled), using deviceId and timestamps.
- To improve reliability via crash reporting.
Data Storage and Security
- Core app data may be stored locally on your device.
- If you use sync features, favorites/reviews may be stored on our servers to support rehydration on reinstall or across devices.
- Data is protected by your device's built-in security features.
- Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data from your device (it does not automatically delete server-synced favorites/reviews unless you request deletion as described below).
Data Retention
This section explains how long we retain your user data.
- Local device data (meal plans, foods, preferences, favorites, reviews stored on-device) is retained until you delete it inside the app, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.
- Server-synced data (if enabled for favorites/reviews) is retained as long as needed to provide the sync service and to maintain account continuity. If you stop using the app, synced records may remain on our servers until deleted as described below.
- Crash diagnostics (if collected by platform/framework providers) is typically retained for a limited period for troubleshooting and reliability.
Data Deletion
This section explains how you can have your data deleted from the app and our systems.
You can delete your data in the following ways:
- In-app deletion: remove saved items (for example favorites/reviews) using the app’s controls where available.
- Device deletion: clear app storage or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data from your device.
- Server deletion request: email zub165@yahoo.com and include your deviceId (shown in the app’s diagnostics/settings if provided, or describe the approximate time you enabled sync). We will delete associated synced favorites/reviews within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 30 days).
Note: Some information may remain in backups for a limited period as part of normal security and disaster recovery practices.
Third-Party Links
NutritionTrak may contain links to third-party websites (USDA, NIH, CDC, WHO, and map providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
Children’s Privacy
Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is intended for general audience use under adult supervision.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
