Legal101 ("we", "our", or "us") provides educational legal rights information through our mobile app and website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information stored on your device

When you use the Legal101 mobile app, the following may be stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage (SharedPreferences):

• Language preference
• Theme and appearance settings
• Optional API provider selection and API key (if you choose to enter one)
• Saved map pin and area-of-interest selections in the lawyer finder feature
• Other app settings you configure

Location information

If you enable location services, the app may access your device location to help find nearby legal resources. Location access is optional and can be disabled in your device settings.

Information we do not collect by default

• We do not require you to create an account
• We do not collect your name, email, or phone number unless you contact us directly
• We do not operate a backend user database for app accounts

2. How We Use Information

We use information only to:

• Provide app functionality and remember your preferences
• Improve language, theme, and resource features
• Help you find nearby legal aid when location is enabled
• Respond to support requests if you contact us

We do not use your data for advertising or third-party tracking purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Legal101 may link to or integrate with third-party services, including:

• OpenAI or other AI providers — only if you choose to configure an API key in Settings. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy.
• Google Maps / search services — for lawyer finder and external legal aid searches
• PayPal — for optional donations on the website. See the PayPal Privacy Policy.
• GitHub Pages — for hosting this website over HTTPS

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them before using linked features.

4. Data Storage and Security

Legal101 uses a hybrid approach: core preferences and saved selections are stored locally on your device. We apply reasonable safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it, reset app settings, uninstall the app, or clear app data from your device. We do not retain personal app account data on our servers because we do not operate user accounts.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

• Disable location access in device settings
• Remove saved API keys from Settings
• Delete all locally stored app data — see our Data Deletion page
• Uninstall the app to remove on-device data
• Request access, correction, or deletion by emailing info@innovatorsgeneration.com

7. Children's Privacy

Legal101 is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International Users

Legal101 is designed primarily for users seeking information about U.S. legal rights. If you access the app or website from outside the United States, your information may be processed according to this policy and applicable local laws.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version. Continued use of Legal101 after changes means you accept the updated policy.
