Overview
Smart Highlighter helps you scan book pages, extract text with OCR, and generate AI-powered study highlights. This policy applies to the Android app, iOS app, and web app.
Data we collect
- Camera & photos: To capture or import book pages for OCR. Processed on-device when possible.
- Extracted text: Stored locally (OCR text, bookmarks, study notes, reading progress).
- AI requests: When you use summaries, quizzes, or flashcards, text may be sent to our backend.

- App support and reliability
Data storage
Most data stays on your device. Backend processing is used for AI features and optional cloud OCR fallback. We do not sell personal data.
Third parties
We may use OpenAI and OCR services to process text you submit. Data is shared only to provide app functionality.
Data deletion
On your device: Open the app → Privacy icon → Privacy & Data → Delete All Local Data. See delete.html for full steps.

Children
This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
